But what do I mean by oriental flavours?
Simply put, it is the use of ingredients that is normally used to make Oriental or South Asian style dishes.
In this quick and easy shrimp pasta recipes I have experimented with ingredients not normally associated with a regular pasta dish.
Instead of cream or milk for the pasta sauce base I have used coconut milk.
The flavour is further enhanced by adding a dash of soya sauce, sweet chilli and lemongrass.

I happened to have the ingredients at home and wanted to make something with those that was not a curry or soup.
This is how I came about this creamy prawn pasta dish.

If you rather make a more traditional yet low fat pasta dish, then try this creamy spaghetti in lemon garlic sauce.

Here is the stepwise recipe to make this simple shrimp pasta at home.
Boil water in a pan with salt and add pasta to cook. Once cooked drain water and set aside.
Make a sauce with soya sauce, sweet chilli sauce and grated ginger. Keep aside for later use.
Heat oil in a pan and saute garlic for a minute. Add the shrimps and saute on high for 2 mins. Add the vegetables if you are using some and cook along with the prawns.
Next, add the soy, ginger, sweet chilli sauce made earlier and stir it in with the shrimps and capsicum until it is well coated.
Add a cup of coconut milk and chopped lemongrass, adjust salt to taste and bring it to boil.
Cook until the prawns are done. Add pasta and cover well with the coconut sauce. Remove lemon grass before serving the delicious yummy Shrimp pasta in coconut soya sauce .
