Its nearing holiday time, which means invites to people to drop by and celebrate the holiday spirit. We love to have family and friends visit us as the house feels so much warmer and merrier with people around.
However one can’t ignore the fact that guests also mean a bit of prep before hand! As per Indian customs its a crime not to feed guests until the time their insides are ready to burst and the thought of getting up and going means like climbing the Everest after running a half marathon!!
Having moved to the west, extensive prep was not a possibility, but since I was brought up within a culture which considers guests as Gods messengers it was unimaginable to simply offer a cup of hot water with a tea bag hanging over the edge of the cup! So like a well brought up daughter, I tried to make the effort to serve something more tangible than liquid!!
And as per my kitchen short cuts I discovered the ultimate treasure which coincidentally also shared a name to reflect my motto called ‘Short-Crust’ Pastry dough!!
And within the same section of prepared doughs, I discovered a range of others too like the puff pastry, pizza and filo pastry!! It truly was a message from God on how to feed his messengers visiting our home without much pottering around the kitchen!!
The story behind this recipe was for a pot luck lunch catering to people with different taste buds.
So the idea was to make something neutral and not too traditional! I have used puff pastry as the base with a cheesy topping! You can make the same with any topping of your choice or simply use leftover meat or veges mix it with cheese and upcycle the remains in your fridge!
Its that easy peasy !! ????
